Asus Transformer AiO combines Windows 8 and Android on an 18-inch display

Asus teased an Android and Windows 8 machine ahead of Computex 2012. It initially seemed that Asus was actually referring to a new partnership with BlueStacks that brings Android apps to its range of PCs. It turns out Asus does have a hybrid device after all.

The Windows 8 and Android device has been revealed as the Asus Transformer AiO. Unlike the original Transformers that start as tablets and transform into laptops, the Transformer AiO is an all-in-one Windows 8 PC at its core. It has an 18-inch multitouch display that can be removed from its base to become a massive tablet. The Transformer AiO can also boot to Android 4.0 at the push of a button.

It appears that Windows 8 is the star here while Android 4.0 comes as a nice bonus. The detachable screen on the AiO also functions as a remote PC display.

Asus didn’t reveal a price or release date for the Transformer AiO.
