Asus@vibe PC application updated with Bluestacks functionality

Earlier this month, Asus announced a partnership with Bluestacks. Bluestacks is the creator of software that allows Android apps to run on PCs. Although Asus will begin shipping PCs with Bluestacks built into its Asus@vibe application in September, existing Asus computer owners can download the new functionality right now.

If you already have the Asus@vibe application installed, it will automatically install the Bluestacks update once you start the program. There are currently dozens of Bluestacks compatible apps in Asus@vibe right now. Games such as Fruit Ninja, Guns ‘n’ Glory WWII, Defender II and Happy Vikings can be installed and played right now. Non-gaming applications include Pulse, Evernote, Feedly and Living Social. All of these apps are free for the next six months, but full access after that period will cost an undisclosed amount.

I downloaded and installed Fruit Ninja on my Asus machine. Slicing is done by holding down the left mouse button slashing around the screen. It’s not as intuitive as touchscreen controls, but it does work just fine.
