A classic revamped, Centipede: Origins invades Android thanks to Atari

Atari has officially released their second game onto the Google Play store today. Technically it could be considered their first since their initial release is actually their Greatest Hits arcade platform. Either way, if you were a fan of Centipede back in the arcade days then you’ll be wanting to check out Atari’s new release called Centipede: Origins.

Consider this game a revamping of the original Centipede game. The goal is to shoot all of the bugs in each stage in order to save your plants along with yourself as well. Luckily you play as a bad ass garden gnome in this version who has access to three upgradeable weapons along with three upgradeable gadgets in order to take out the bugs.

Centipede: Origins Features:

• 3 upgradeable weapons that will lay waste to the onslaught of bugs and centipedes! Use the grenades, rapid fire and others to eliminate the insects! More to be included soon!
• 3 upgradable gadgets such as the Fly Trap, the Time Warp and others to give you the upper hand in your battle with the bugs and centipedes! More to come soon!
• Collect coins to buy upgrades and help you protect the world of the gnomes!
• 4 playable levels including Bumpkinpatch Gardens, Bumpkinpatch Aerial, Tarpit Excavation, Valley of Flowers and others that can be purchased as you progress through the game!

Visually this game is certainly a step up from the original considering what the graphics were like back then. Centipede: Origins is much more colorful and visually appealing but it does stick to the core style of gameplay that was in the original arcade game for the most part.

Fans of retro games might not dig the new visuals but you can’t help but enjoy that old school gaming feel that you get from classics like Centipede. For those of you who want to grab a copy of Centipede: Origins, you can do so off of the Google Play store for $0.99.
