Today is the day the Samsung Galaxy S III comes to the United States. It’ll be available on all the major carriers eventually, but T-Mobile customers are among the first to purchase the phone. If you’re among the bunch that can’t wait to lay down a couple hundred bucks, you should know the GSIII from T-Mobile is more expensive than most smartphones.
The price of the GSIII will vary depending the model you choose, and whether you’re on a Classic or Value plan. The 16GB GSIII will cost $279.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and signing a two-year contract. The 32GB model costs $329.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Basically, you can expect to spend at least $330 out of pocket before leaving the store.
Value plan customers will pay $229.99 for the 16GB model or $279.99 for the 32GB model. However, they’ll also have to pay $20 a month for 20 months as part of the overall deal.
There’s no shame in waiting to purchase this phone. New phones go on sale from third-party retailers all the time. These high prices are typically what you have to pay for early adoption.
