Classic motorcycle racing game Road Rash getting remade for Android, funding has started on Appbackr

If you’ve been playing console games since their earlier invasion into our home lives, then you’ve probably played Road Rash or one of it’s many variants/ports on any number of consoles you’ve owned from back in the day. Well Enlightened Applications wants to bring it back, remade into a modern game and release it onto Android.

Funding has started for the game over on Appbackr with the goal of $3,989 need to successfully fund the remaking of this classic game. Road Rash, which was originally released by EA back in the early 90’s and has been ported numerous times to numerous consoles, is a rather violent motorcycle racing game where you race against opponents and hopefully come out on top instead of being part of the pavement.

Appbackr is an interesting type of crowdfunding site, one we have talked about a few times in the past. Basically instead of getting gifts for helping with the funding of the project, you end up making a profit instead. In this case, for every $11 you fund, you will get $16 in return.

Right now the game is in concept phase but the developers seem to be working pretty hard on it considering that they has a general release timeline as being on the Google Play store sometime between August and September of this year. The visuals will all be updated to 3D rendered graphics more in the style of the Playstation One version.
