Following up with a little bit more trading card gaming news, Attic Squad Games has released a sort of hybrid game called Warlock’s Bounty. This particular game is a mash-up of the game books and TCG titles to form a sort of Choose Your Own Adventure game that uses collectible cards for combat.
Jonathan Green, who is the written for this game, is no stranger to the game book genre either having penned numerous issues in plenty of the most popular physicals book series including Fighting Fantasy, Doctor Who, Star Wars and even some of Tin Man Games’ titles. It looks like he has decided to branch out and do his own releases as well with Warlock’s Bounty.
Just as you might be guessing, this game follows the game book format of reading a book, making choices and flipping to the page that your choice results in and, once there, dealing with the consequences of your choice, whether good or bad.

Combat is done using decks of collectible cards instead of dice rolls so while you might have a better chance at winning fights than with a random dice roll, you also have more strategy involved since you have to play your cards right or end up dieing. You can optimize your deck to create the perfect balance between magic and weapon cards to help you with the upcoming battles.
Currently Book 1 in this series is called Revenge of the Sorcerer and is available for download in two flavors, a free lite version to try out and a full version which you can download for $2.65. We can expect more books to follow soon.
