A new 3D arcade shoot-em-up, or shmup for short, game has landed on the Google Play store courtesy of Phyken Media. While this game is pretty solid on it’s own, Wizard Ops has something that you won’t find in any other shmup. What is it? Michael Winslow of Police Academy or Space Balls fame who happens to be providing all of the sound effects for this game.
For those of you who somehow do not know who Michael Winslow is, he happens to be that one cop on Police Academy who makes all the crazy sounds in that movie series. Well Phyken Media happened to bring him on board to do all the sound effects for Wizard Ops. That alone adds an extra point of awesomeness to this game. you can see Michael Winslow in action making the sounds in the trailer below.
Wizard Ops is a head-on shmup game for Android featuring 3D visuals, some hectic and fast-paced gameplay, and some enjoyable humor. As the story goes, the Queen has died from some horrible accident and the King blames the Wizard Ops, a group of elite wizards who protect the kingdom which also happens to be in constant danger. The King imprisons the Wizard Ops team which in turn allows the real evil being, Mad Maker, to gain control of the kingdom and kidnapping the princess.
Obviously you get released as the kingdom’s last hope for escaping the Mad Maker’s evil grasp on it and saving the princess. Wizard Ops is an episodic game which means there will be multiple episodes released over time. Currently this release brings Episode I to Android where you will play as the Fire Wizard. You will have 21 various weapons to unlock and use in your quest to save everyone and everything. Weapons can be earned over time or, for the impatient, can be bought through an in-game purchase.
