Kairosoft changes it up, releases Beastie Bay onto Google Play for free

We were already starting to miss Kairosoft since their last release, the rather cool city building sim called Venture Towns, sporting their famous 8-bits graphics and sounds. A few days ago Kairosoft decided to release a free game called Beastie Bay, moving onto a different business model but keeping the same idea that’s made them be loved by the Android community overall.

Beastie Bay is a cast away sim, in which you’re washed ashore and left on an unknown island full of dangers and beautiful landscapes for you to explore one chunk at a time. You start by choosing your first companion from 3 different pets (duck included), with different capabilities. As you start the game, you’ll find plenty of enemies and bosses all around the island, with the possibility of turning some of them into allies by giving them bait. There’s room for lots of buildings just like in every other Kairosoft game, as well as lots of nature buildings like palm trees. It is to be taken into account that every thing you buy or build will affect your needs and your income. You may also find abandoned locations that can be helpful in advancing your civilization status.

This new game from Kairosoft features their usual nice old-school graphics along with a catchy soundtrack and a whole set of animations that tend to lend to the addiction that is Kairosoft. The game features a whole set of 8-bit enemies and friends for you to discover across the land too, so you’ll be happy to find many particular things here and there to look at.

Finally, and in a move we weren’t expecting, Kairosoft has decided to move onto a free-to-play model with this release but not in the way most free-to-play games are done these days. Beastie Bay is an ad-supported game but there is a $3.99 in-game purchase intended to both remove the adds and allow for a landscape mode option. As you can see, you can fully play the game without annoying In-App Purchases, being an excellent move from Kairosoft. It will be interesting to see if Kairosoft’s fan base grows with this new business model they have adapted to.
