Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 has finally arrived

The other bit of news we dropped yesterday before running out and taking the day off was that Penny Arcade had finally released their retro-style RPG title we have been reporting on over the past few months called On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3. Developed by TinkerHouse Games and ZeBoyd Games, the fine folks that brought us Cthulhu Saves the World, this new game is one for the true RPG fans out there.

If you’ve played any classic retro-style RPG in the past then you will be right at home with this game as it features a lot of the gameplay mechanics found in those classic RPGs from back in the day. However, there are some unique features as well and, of course, plenty of the sarcastic humor Penny Arcade is famous for. As the story goes, you will be playing as Tycho Ephemerous Brahe, scholar of Apocalyptic Studies turned detective, and his entirely human partner Jonathan Gabriel as they confront unspeakable evils that threaten New Arcadia.

On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 comes with some pretty interesting features. Not only do you get the original game, you will also receive The Lair of the Seamstress DLC and Fanfiction packs as well. Other features include intuitive touch-enabled menus and enemy selection, ‘Rejiggered’ UI to maximize screen real estate, and 2 Control Schemes for your comfort: Fixed D-Pad, and Floating Swipe D-Pad. TinkerHouse and Penny Arcade also promise more free content is on the way and will be arriving soon.

For those of you who have been waiting for On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 to arrive and missed our quick blitz on Google+ and Twitter yesterday letting you all know it was now available, you can grab yourself a copy of this game off of the Google Play store for $2.99.

Important Note: For whatever reason it seems like On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 is not available for Tegra-based devices right now, at least for me at the time of writing this. The press release mentions nothing of it being exclusive to any certain chpset or anything so it could be nothing more that the game not being optimized for Tegra devices or it could be just a bug. We are leaning towards the fact it could be a bug right now as Cthulhu Saves the World is available for Tegra devices. The account we have tied to all our Tegra devices is showing the game as not available for any of them right now. We’ve written to TrinkerHouse to find out more information. If you are able to get it on a Tegra device, let us know in the comments below which device you managed to get the game installed on.
