Amazon Games Studio has announced the launch of their ‘first’ game onto Android today called Air Patriots. While this is being called their first game release made in-house, this is technically not their first game released as Airport Mania happens to be their first published title. If you dive into it further, it can get a bit confusing as to who is making what since if you look at the Google Play link, it shows Southwinds Games in the URL while the account is actually under Lemon Team.
Whatever the case may be, Amazon seems to have some sort of draw to all things dealing with airplanes and airports when it comes to their games. In Air Patriots, you will be playing a more tower defense style of game where your ‘towers’ are actually planes which you will need to place around each map strategically in order to keep your enemy at bay, which happens to be tanks.

Interestingly enough, it isn’t just a matter of placing your planes around the map to destroy the enemy tanks. This is more of a dynamic type of tower defense game, sort of like Guns N’ Glory by HandyGames is, except in Air Patriots you can do things like draw patrol paths for your planes to follow, making each plane take a certain path that would make it the most beneficial depending on the type of plane and weaponry it has.
While the Tower Defense genre may be filled with a plethora of titles, most of which follow the basic game mechanics that make up a successful tower defense game, once in awhile there is always a new game out that comes with something unique to set it apart from the rest of the crowd. If you ‘re up for trying out a new tower defense game that is a little different, you can do so by downloading Air Patriots off of the Google Play store or the Amazon AppStore for free with in-game purchases which, to be honest, are not really optional if you want to play the full game with all the maps. To get all the maps, you can buy the map pack for $2.99 or individual maps for $0.99.
Kindle Fire owners are treated to some unique features as well including Amazon’s GameCircle to track achievements and high scores as well as the ability yo let you save your progress on one device then picking up where you left off on another through the use of Whispersync.
