GREE releases a new TCG called Magnus Ignis, where dreams and nightmares come true

After the news of OpenFeint being shut down soon from yesterday, GREE has followed it up with a new game release called Magnus Ignis. GREE has also done what a few other developers have decided to do in the past and start a new developer account on Google Play with a slight variation of their name. Square Enix did it, EA has done it, and now GREE has done it as well. So even though this game shows up as the only game GREE has released onto Android, that is not true. It is just the first game under that account.

It isn’t the best idea to do that with multiple accounts as people could think it is a fake account but rest assured this is a real GREE account. With that said, Magnus Ignis is a new TCG with a few distinct differences that set it apart from other TCG (Trading Card Games) currently available. While a lot of people think GREE tend to be a bit greedy with the IAPs in their games, Magnus Ignis seems to be a TCG title done right.

Set in a world where, after a massive eruption of magic has happened, myths and dreams have fused together with the world, bringing with it both the good and the bad from the dimensions where myths and legends reside in. As the description states – Heaven, Hell, and Earth have all been merged. An infinite number of gods, monsters, and mortals have been scattered throughout a single world. You are the king in this new chaotic world and it is up to you to regain order.

Magnus Ignis plays out in a lot of similar ways as most other TCGs do, allowing players to collect various cards and build up their forces, fusing cards together to create stronger ones and different classes and rarities of cards to deal with. What sets this particular TCG apart from the other ones is the unique three-row battle system you will be using. This involves a great deal more strategy and thought than your standard battle system found in these types of games. The other thing that sets Magnus Ignis apart is the fact that you can become quite powerful in the game without having to buy into it, giving everyone equal opportunity to get powerful cards and be a contender in the game.

GREE also holds events where players can compete for prizes and rare cards. The cool thing is, you don’t have to place high in order to win a rare card. You can still get them even if you don’t place as high as others, it is just those people who do get more card and more powerful ones at that. If you’re interested in checking out yet another TCG title that does offer up something a little different than the norm, you can download Magnus Ignis off of the Google Play store for free. We have only begun scratching the surface of this game so hopefully as we dig deeper into it we will see if our positive initial impressions remain the same.
