Linden Labs, the company behind Second Life, releases Creatorverse onto Android

Moving from the world of MMOs and other online multiplayer creative projects for PC gamers, Linden Labs has broken away from their main ‘game’ Second Life in order to bring mobile gamers on iOS and Android a new type of creative sandbox type of game called Creatorverse. Released yesterday onto Android, this game lets you basically draw whatever it is you feel like, connecting different shapes and what not with connectors, and then allowing you to have it go ‘live’ which then applies things like real world physics to whatever it is that you just created.

Once the properties of real world physics and other mechanics get applied to whatever it is that you created, your creation basically becomes animated and will move/react as it should. For example, if you draw a car and a line at a slight angle downwards underneath it, then have it go ‘live’, the car will roll downhill on the line.

All the standard actions are feasible in Creatorverse, not just rolling. Bouncing, tilt, accelerating, slow down and so on are all possible depending on what you draw and how you draw it. You also have different joints, motors, teleporters, forces and other mechanics you can applies to whatever you are creating or built right into it. You can create something very simple or create something extremely complex that does a multitude of functions. It is really up to you and how creative you can get.

Visually the game is very simple, mainly because it focuses on being creative and the actual gameplay instead of just layering on the eye candy. There is pretty much no limit to what you can do in Creatorverse. If you’re up for it, you can grab a cop of Creatorverse off of Google Play for $4.99 or off of the Amazon AppStore for a Kindle Fire compatible version for the same price.
