Under The Radar #2: Bogan’s Run, Lime 3D, The Great Fusion and more

Welcome to the second installment of our Under The Radar column where we showcase a few good games that we may not have been able to publish as full articles on our website. Ultimately, with this, smaller developers get vital exposure for their games and you get to have more games to play on your plate. If you know of more quality games released recently that have not got the attention they deserve, let us know by leaving a comment below!

Bogan’s Run

Developed by the same guys behind the retro racer Project Downforce, Bogan’s Run is a pure take on the endless runner genre, in the sense that it is devoid of any in-app purchases whatsoever, and depends totally on your skill. You control Bogan by swiping one finger along the screen to rotate the view and evade obstacles. It actually feels like a fusion between a tunnel racer and endless runner due to the manner in which the game plays out.

Lime 3D

A brilliant 3D puzzle game that literally came out of nowhere. Taking inspiration from the maze-like Sokoban games, you play as an alien called Lime and complete more than 50 stages with four difficulty levels in a cubix world. I played though the first few levels and liked what I saw, though the only two things holding this game back are slow character movement and a clunky control mechanism. Otherwise, it’s sure worth giving this game a shot.

The Great Fusion

This is a great release that hasn’t commanded much attention. The Great Fusion is a point and click adventure game that is inspired by classic games of the same genre. I haven’t spent much time with it, but my initial impressions are that the game is extremely polished, witty and optimized for touchscreens. Those into point and clicks should take a closer look at The Great Fusion. The reviews on Google Play are extremely positive too, though it seems the game is a little short.

Bacteria Arcade Edition

Another game that is inspired by classic games, this time from the arcade genre. Basically, you command a spaceship kind of vehicle and have to defend your cells from alien bacteria attacks. There’s three difficulty levels (novice, arcade and insane) to test your skills against. The game plays out on a wave-based formula. I briefly played it and it seemed good, though I did feel the virtual analog stick to be less responsive than I’d ideally like it to be.

Pocket BMX

This is a 2D bike riding game that is packed with BMX daredevil BMX tricks. There’s a story mode to follow which offers you a wealth of challenges, and other modes such as competition and ghost runs. There are 7 locations with 22 levels on offer, plus 18 different tricks that you can perform. There’s also three different control types to choose from. I didn’t go too far while trying out Pocket BMX, but those who’re into this genre should check it out as it seems polished and decent.

Push The Box

This is sort of a puzzle game that is based on the classic tale of the Three Little Pigs, with the villain being the Big Bad Wolf. What you have to do is save three pigs that are scattered along each level. To do so, you have to manipulate the environment by pushing crates for example to clear the path, and draw a path ahead of you to move. The graphics are on the kiddish side of things, but the game itself is good and worth a shot if you’re a fan of puzzles in general.

Duncan and Katy

Aliens have invaded the planet, and the burden to fight off the invasion falls into the hands of two heroes – the titular Duncan and Katy. Featuring colorful and vibrant graphics, this is an action game with a movement pad on the left and buttons to mash on the right. The games seems to offer quite a lot, with a laundry list of features including 15 primary weapons, 4 secondary weapons, 15 items, 19 different enemies and to top it all off…boss fights!

Rescue Roby

Physics puzzlers are all the rage in this day and age. Be prepared to add another game to that list – Rescue Roby. Taking cue from the three kings of physics puzzlers (Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and Where’s My Water), Rescue Roby requires you to manipulate the environment by tapping on objects such as crates and wooden planks to destroy them, with the ultimate aim of getting Roby into the box. The level designs are brilliant, and if luck is on their side, Rescue Roby could be the next big physics puzzler!

Draw Wars

This is kind of a unique game, because it is a mishmash of the real-time strategy, tower defense and puzzle game genres. You control your army comprising of tanks, infantry and planes to attack whilst employ towers, bunkers and rocket launches to defend your base. All of this is done using an intuitive control method that is by drawing the path out using your fingers on the screen.
