The classic Apple II game Lode Runner sprints its way onto Android

In the not too distant past Sony released a new iteration of the classic Load Runner game called Lode Runner X which was exclusive to Xperia devices. If you didn’t own an Xperia device, you missed out on getting that game. However, if you’re a purist when it comes to retro games you will be pleased to know the classic version of Lode Runner from the Apple II days has arrived on Google Play.

Appropriately named Lode Runner Classic, this new release brings all of the 150 levels of the classic game back to life but with the visuals redone to properly work on Android phones and tablets. This also applies to the controls which have also been developed for mobile gameplay.

Lode Runner Classic Features:

– Lode Runner Classic Features:
– 150 puzzling levels – all unlocked and accessible
– Two game modes – Expedition and Time Attack
– New magnification effect – zoom the action around the Runner
– Multiple play speeds – super slow to superfast action
– Fully adjustable color palettes
– Worldwide leaderboards
– Multiple control schemes
– Illustrated How to Play section

There are a few new features that this version comes with over the original one such as the ability to zoom right in around your little Runner and warps the level into something rather nasty looking. There also happens to be multiple color schemes as well as adjustable gameplay speed.

If you’re a fan of retro games and Lode Runner specifically, you can grab yourself a copy of Lode Runner Classic off of Google Play for $2.99 which gives you access to everything in the game. You can also check the game out in action in the video above.
