Google Play turns 1 year old, celebrates with sales and freebies

It has been one year since the Android Market officially changed names to the current Google Play label we are using now. To celebrate the new official name turning one year old, Google has teamed up with a variety of developers to offer up a bunch of apps, movies, books and other goodies on sale as well as a bunch of free apps and games also.

The selection is actually not half bad at all. When it comes to movies on Google Play, there is almost two full pages of rentals available for $0.99. Music on Google Play has three pages of deals to be had with single tracks from $0.99 all the way up to full albums on sale for $5.99. Books and Magazines on Google Play are also on sale with two pages of books on sale for five bucks while there are three pages of single issue magazines available for a mere $1.

When it comes to TV shows, there happens to be four pages of free episodes for you to watch across a variety of different shows. There are also plenty of apps offering up deals to take advantage of whether they are free apps with deals like Hotels.com or paid apps on sale. Of course we can’t leave out gaming can we? There is a single page of games available for free, some that are normally free but with IAPs that are on sale. Most also happen to be, or have, some sort of special edition content to celebrate the one year birthday of Google Play like Zenonia 5.

All of this is for a limited time while Google Play celebrates its first birthday so if you are planning to take advantage of any of these sales, better to do so sooner rather than later. We will update this post as we find more deals going on. If you know of any, be sure to let us know in the comments below.
