New app offers up paid games for free, today it’s Asphalt 7

A new application was released a few days ago that will offer up paid games for all you Android gamers out there but for free. Think of it as a “Free Game of the Day” type of service although the offers last a few days instead of just one. It seems the company behind the app, OnaDevice, has made some deals with some pretty big publishers as well because these are not just no-name titles they are offering up for free.

A prime example is today on the app, appropriately name Get Free Apps, the freebie is Gameloft’s Asphalt 7: Heat. This game is available for free to download starting today and lasting for the following two days as well. After that a new game or application will be put up for free.

One of the rather neat features about this application is that you can actually see what the next few free games or apps will be that are coming up so you can sort of plan which ones you want to get. For example, the next freebies heading our way through the app are Where’s My Perry? by Disney, which will be the very next one in a few days. Following that is Angry Birds Space (paid edition), Falcon Pro, Cut the Rope (paid edition), and 3D Mini Golf Challenge.

So how does this all work? Well basically you enter in your Paypal account information and when you download the application or game you want, you end up paying for it but then a refund is issued (within 20 minutes) to your Paypal account which means you basically pay nothing for the game. It’s probably done this way because it’s a little more organized and the company behind the app is in charge of the refunds. This also means you will be getting the version of the game on Google Play and thus gaining access to all future updates for whatever game or app you download. There also seems to be a limit that developers can impose as to how many copies are given away for free. As of the time of writing this, Asphalt 7 has 240 copies available.

It’s a nifty idea and it is basically the closest thing to a promo code system we have right now for Google Play. Unfortunately developer can just whip out promo code like they should be able to and instead have to go through services like this. If you’re interested in checking this app out, you can download Get Free Apps off of Google Play for free.
