Today I am covering two games that combined have been download a billion times, Subway Surfer and Temple Run 2. Why? Both of these are games that I just seem to have a hard time putting down. They are available for Android and iOS but something about these continuous runner games keeps me coming back for more.
Subway Surfer by Kiloo Games
Subway Surfer is all about some punk kid that gets caught spray painting on a train. He (she) is trying to run away from the authorities. Now in no way are myself or Droid Gamers condoning this activity! This game is addicting! At first it seems just like many of the other continuous runner games but after a few minutes I was hooked. The graphics and game play are great and the ads in the game are very minimal. The game controls are simple, swipe left/right or up/down to move your character. There are plenty of obstacles too.
The game has enough variety to keep it fresh. Other than trying to see how far you can go, there are a number of other challenges you can work on. Every 24 hours there is a daily challenge and there are a number of missions to complete also. With any of these, you probably will not be able to complete them in one run. As you earn coins, you can use them to purchase different characters and equipment. The game also connects with Facebook so you challenge friends. It is a free game, a fun and addicting game, and a no-brainer download.
Temple Run 2 by Imangi Studio
In this sequel to the hit Temple Run, your character steals the idol from the temple and has to outrun the angry creatures. Again we in no way condone this illegal action and apologize to the temple gods for this behavior! As with Temple Run, the daring character has to run from the temple and jump, slide, or glide through various terrains. The graphics and overall game play are a lot better than the first game and thus more enjoyable (IMHO). The four characters you can choose from our Guy Dangerous, Scarlett Fox, Barry Bones, and Karma Lee.
The developer has added a lot of nice extras in the game. There is a daily, weekly, and friend challenges you can participate in. There are number of different objectives, like 10,000,000 lifetime meters you can work on. There is a leader board and some quick stats for you. The item I really like, and use a lot is the green gems. You can collect or purchase these in the game and use them when you die to keep your game going. I did not really get into the first Temple Run but Temple Run 2 with its different terrains/locations, extra challenges, and the green gems, is a whole new game!
