Subatomic Studios has had the Android version of Fieldrunners 2 in close beta testing for a few weeks now and the other day we reported on the news that the game would be arriving onto Google Play on April 24th (today). Well the wait is over and Fieldrunners 2 has arrived right on time.
For those of you who missed our previous coverage regarding this game, Fieldrunners 2 is the sequel to Subatomic Studios’ rather popular tower defense game Fieldrunners. Players will be treated to 25 levels which span across four areas on the island on which you will be playing. All the visuals are and-painted as well and look quite good. The maps in Fieldrunners 2 are ‘Hybrid Maps’, not your typical Tower Defense maps and mechanics, which means it combines both fixed path layouts as well as free building maps for a rather unique hybrid style of playing.

There are some other features that set this game apart from other Tower Defense games. One of those features are the rather unique towers that come with this game such as the one that shoots beehives at your enemies. There also happens to be custom loadouts you can configure in order to use specific weapons on certain maps that will give you an advantage.
Aside from the usual features you find in these types of games like multiple levels of upgrades for your towers and special attacks like air strikes, Fieldrunners 2 also has a few interesting game modes to play through which add a twist to the standard Tower Defense gameplay.
