Writers’ Group Film Corp releases more details on when they will be releasing Amiga games

Back near the beginning of this month Writers’ Film Group Corp went ahead and bought Amiga Games Inc, a company that republishes classic Amiga games onto new platforms such as smartphones and tablets. Writers’ Film Group Corp is a company that specializes in a few things but one of their main focuses is digital content distribution so picking up Amiga Games Inc is something that makes sense since they were wanting to expanding in to the mobile gaming markets.

The deal, which cost Writers’ Film Group Corp $500,000, has been officially done for about two weeks and when the initial announcement of the deal taking place happened, there was no real details released as to what the company’s plans were next. Right now they have over 300 IPs at their disposal thanks to all the licensing agreements Amiga Games Inc has with all the developers of those Amiga games. They did warn everyone that there would be more announcements in the near future at that time and this looks like it is the beginning of those announcements.

The announcement is that Google has approved Amiga Games Inc in regards to publishing classic Amiga games onto Google Play. While most developers don’t have to worry about any sort of approval, since developers can just sign up and start publishing titles whenever they want, there was probably some sort of extra agreements needing to be made due to copyrights and licensing with regards to publishing these games.

So when will we start seeing titles arriving from Amiga Games Inc on Android? According to the press release we will be seeing games appearing on Google Play closer to the 2013 Winter holiday season. So we have a bit of a wait still but it should be interesting to see what titles get released. There is one piece of very important information though that should please everyone. These games will more than likely be full paid games just due to the fact none of the old Amiga games were ever designed to be free-to-play and these games are not being reworked for that business model, mainly because they are kept original in terms of content and mechanics.
