Seagate has designed a 500GB hard drive for Android tablets

There is always one thing we can never have enough of when it comes to our mobile devices and that is storage space. Even with 64GB or storage in your tablet it generally doesn’t take long to fill that sucker up full with music, games, movies and whatever else you enjoy stuff inside your tablet.

Seagate has announced that they have been working on designing a new hard drive that will be for Android tablets. Interestingly enough, the way the company has designed the hard drive, it will bring the “same power, performance and reliability of a flash device” but will have a ridiculous 500GB of space available. Obviously this is a much bigger amount currently available for any tablet.

The hard drive measures in at 2.5-inches in size and 5mm thin, weighing in at 3.3 ounces and will be using 8GB flash cache as one of the features they will be using in order to achieve their above statement of bringing the same performance, power and reliability of a flash device. Seagate has also developed technology in order to ensure this hard drive doesn’t devour our tablet’s batteries.

Now we just need to see large manufacturers getting on this and offering this as future tablet models. You can check out the rather lengthy press release via the link below.
