Massive 16-bit RPG Pier Solar HD gets shown off in new trailer

Back in December of last year we were following the Kickstarter campaign for Pier Solar HD, a remake of the massive retro style RPG game for Sega Mega Drive / Genesis that was released in 2010 and soon to be coming to the Dreamcast as well. Their Kickstarter campaign was so successful that Android and Ouya versions were confirmed to be in the works as well.

While we are still waiting for the game to finish up its development and get released, the developers have released a new trailer showing off the new graphics that this HD version of the game will come with versus the visuals the old version had. The new version will be keeping with the retro style graphics but they will be much more detailed and polished.

Pier Solar HD follows the story of Hoston, a young botanist who is on a quest to save his father from a mysterious illness. He will be accompanied by two of his best friends, Alina and Edessot, and the three of them embark on a quest seeking a rare herb to cure the illness of Hoston’s father. As with all simply journeys, this one to find the rare herb spirals out of controls where Hoston begins unraveling his father’s past and the mystery of Pier Solar and the Great Architects.

This new version won’t just be an enhanced port of the original game either. The developers plan to add plenty of new goodies and secrets for players to hunt down and find. So if you happen to have finished the original game already, you won’t be able to just breeze through this new version since it’ll have plenty of new content added to the game as well.

As for when this game will be released, right now there is just an early 2014 release time frame announced. No pricing has been released either.
