A couple of weeks ago we talked about a new application coming from Sony which would be the official companion app for their next-gen console, the Playstation 4. This companion app features plenty of the standard social features along with being able to use the second-screen feature when it is available in a game.
In terms of social features you will be able to talk to friends, see what they are playing, get notifications when they come online, compare earned trophies and, of course, check out each others profile. You’ll also be able to use your mobile device as a keyboard for the Playstation 4.
Of course there is also access to the Playstation Store where you’ll be able to buy games for your Playstation 4 and have them downloaded onto your console while you’re not home. That way when you do get home, you can just jump right onto your Playstation 4 and begin playing your new game.
The Playstation App is available as a free download off of Google Play for residents of the US, Canada and some European countries. Our UK readers have to wait until November 22nd for your version.
