Sony announces Playstation Now, streaming Playstation games to phone and tablets

Sony today has finally uncovered what their streaming service will be, something they hinted at after they bought cloud-based game streaming service Gaikai back in 2012. This new service is officially called Playstation Now and will still be a game streaming service but for classic Playstation games.

Playstation Now will stream Playstation, Playstation 2 and even some Playstation 3 titles to various devices including TVs, tablets and smartphones. Streaming will also be available on the Playstation 4 and PS Vite for those of you who happen to own one of those. Since it was mentioned in general that it would be streamed to smartphones and tablets, it appears that this service won’t be locked to Playstation Certified devices only.

A closed beta of Playstation now is starting near the end of the month and if all goes well the service will be rolling out in full by the end of this Summer. As for pricing, that is a question that still needs an answer.
