Yesterday we posted that we wouldn’t be posting anything more related to Flappy Bird due to the developer wanting some peace. Since then we have seen statements and other things posted by other websites involving the Flappy Bird developer which is fine, we will stick to our word for the most part. However Terry Cavanagh, the creator of Super Hexagon and other games, has published his own spin-off of Flappy Bird called Maverick Bird.
There already happens to be a ridiculous amount of spin-offs and clones of Flappy Bird trying to fill the void that now exists with the original game getting pulled from iOS and Android by the developer. Most are pretty much identical to the original Flappy Bird game. Some clones were even hostile in nature, infected with viruses and malware that the unsuspecting user would get infected with once installed. Those infected versions have been pulled as well but do keep an eye out for similar releases in the near future as more clones get released.
Enough about that though an onto Cavanagh’s release of Maverick Bird. This spin-off of Flappy Bird features its own look to it which appears to be influenced by the developer’s previous games, namely Super Hexagon (our review available here). It also features some pretty epic music for a soundtrack and even more difficult terrain to navigate through using the same movement mechanics as with Flappy Bird.
Before you get excited, rush to Google Play and try to download Maverick Bird you need to know one thing, it’s not available on Android or iOS, at least not yet. The game is playable online through your browser for PC only and even though playing Maverick Bird is limited to this platform, we’re hoping for a quick release onto Android. Nothing is confirmed or even stated as being planned but this is a good version to get your fix with.
