Ouya partners up with Mad Catz to bring content to the MOJO console. MOJO also gets a price cut.

A few days ago Ouya announced that it would soon be bringing its platform to other hardware and it seems the first company to jump on board is Mad Catz with their Android-powered game console called the MOJO. Now depending on who you are and how you feel about the Ouya platform, this is either really great news or really unfortunate news.

Regardless of what stance you take on the whole Ouya initiative, aptly named Ouya Everywhere, to have the company’s platform on more hardware then their own self-named Android game console, the fact that it will be available on the MOJO console makes Mad Catz game console much more appealing, especially when you combine it with the new price drop for the MOJO.

With more than 680 games and 33,000 developers signed up, OUYA features an impressive catalog of content from AAA developers and independent publishers, all of which are designed to replicate the core gaming experience, taking advantage of the TV and controller. This agreement with OUYA encapsulates our vision of an open software platform powered by M.O.J.O.’s high-performance hardware, and supported by the entire ecosystem of GameSmart™ gaming accessories.  We believe today’s announcements will widen the appeal of M.O.J.O. introducing it to a greater number of passionate gamers. – Darren Richardson, the President and CEO of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc

While more games is always a bonus, the majority of the games available on Ouya are already available on Android through Google Play. There are, of course, some exclusives Ouya does have though. This does make the MOJO a little more appealing for future consumers and of course there is also the new price tag of $199 as well. You can expect this to roll out later this Spring.

So, is this a good move or a bad move for the MOJO console? Let us know in the comments below.
