Gameloft is the first company to add TwitchTV live streaming to their games – 24hr stream ensues

TwitchTV annoucned recently that they were releasing an SDK where mobile game developers could use it to add the ability to stream live gameplay from within mobile games. While it is already possible to stream to TwitchTV with mobile games, its a real pain in the ass to set up for the most part. This new SDK allows the functionality to be built right into mobile games.

On the flip side of this news, Gameloft only did this with their Asphalt 8: Airborne game for iOS. Even though they only did it with the iOS version of their game, it does show that the SDK and live game streaming functionality from mobile games does work and quite well. In fact Gameloft will be streaming live for 24hrs playing Asphalt 8: Airborne on TwitchTV starting at now. We’ve embedded it below as well for your viewing pleasure.

There is also new content coming to Asphalt 8: Airborne:

– New location: Race through the gorgeous new Asian inspired location, The Great Wall, which will offer 6 new tracks like you have never seen before!
– New cars: We will regularly release amazing new cars, including the unique 2014 McLaren P1, along with the iconic Ferrari Testarossa, the powerful Dodge Challenger and the mighty 2014 Ford F-150!
– New career events: 30 new events across all 8 seasons.
– New UI: A completely redesigned main menu for a more streamlined experience!

As for other games, Gameloft is only stating that it will be in Asphalt 8: Airborne for right now although we expect Modern Combat to get it as well. No word on when the Android version of either Asphalt 8 or the mobile SDK for TwitchTV will launch.
