More details released about Activision’s upcoming mobile exclusive Tony Hawk game

Back in February we talked about Activision and their announcement of a new Tony Hawk skateboarding game that would be made available only to mobile gamers. At the time of the announcement, there were not a whole lot of details released about this new game including any sort of official name for it. Well now we know what they name will be as well as some additional details.

This new Tony Hawk game will officially be called Tony Hawk’s Shred Session and players will be skateboarding around different areas like a pro skater, pulling off tricks and combos with the use of a single finger. In fact all the controls have been designed so you only have to use one finger. As you progress through this game you will be able to level your chosen character up. Doing so will also unlock more advanced tricks for you to attempt.

Speaking of characters, players will be able to choose to play as one of the six modern day skateboarding pros: Chris Cole, Aaron “Jaws” Homoki, Lizzie Armanto, David Gonzalez, Riley Hawk, and of course Tony Hawk himself. Each one of these skaters also comes with their own signature moves to break out as well. In terms of character customization, each rider can be outfitted with real skate brand apparel, and decks can be customized with signature designs that include bonuses to help reach even higher scores.

Tony Hawk’s Shred Session will have two different game modes to play through – Survival, where players pull off continuous tricks and combos as long as they can; and Shred Sessions, where players rip through levels to complete classic Tony Hawk game objectives, or compete head-to-head against friends’ top scores. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any real multiplayer game mode. At least none that has been announced yet anyways.

While there is no exact release date for Tony Hawk’s Shred Session right now, Activision does say it will land on Android and iOS this Summer. No word on pricing as of yet although word on the street is that it will be free-to-play.
