Gameloft’s Asphalt Spin-Off Asphalt Overdrive Detailed

Gameloft announced a spin-off Asphalt game titled Asphalt Overdrive at E3. Played upright in portrait mode, Overdrive has players driving in between 3 lanes, which one can be changed with a swipe of the screen. There are many different challenges to partake in including escaping the police, performing stunts, and of course racing. Challenges give you a star rating with three stars being the highest obtainable.

The game is meant to give off an “New 80’s vibe” which Gameloft in a blog post equates to being similar to Miami Vice. The locations of the game are all inspired by Southern California and features multiple cars from real life car companies. Similar to other Asphalt games, Overdrive will feature the usual speed boosts and ramps that are on tracks in regular Asphalt games. There is no release date for Asphalt Overdrive other than later this year and it will be free.

For those disappointed don’t worry, Gameloft made it clear that this is not a replacement for Asphalt 9 in any way.
