Castle of Illusion HD Remake Released for Android

The mouse of wonder returns in an HD reimagining of the Sega Genesis masterpiece, The Castle of Illusion. Players take control of Mickey Mouse, who is on a quest to save his stalwart companion, Minnie Mouse, from the nefarious witch Mizrabel. The game boasts stunning visuals, five magical worlds to explore, hidden challenges and unlockable classic costumes for Mickey.

The original Castle of Illusion, released in 1990, was developed and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and is often noted as being the title that propelled the console’s popularity prior to the release of Sonic the Hedgehog. The title spawned three sequels; Land of Illusion, World of Illusion and Legend of Illusion, released betwen 1992 and 1995.

In 2012, Disney released a spiritual successor/homage on the Nintendo 3DS entitled Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion. Though the title is not an outright remake or reimagining of the Sega game, Power of Illusion contains many nods and elements from Castle of Illusion, including the return of Mizrabel the evil witch.

The Castle of Illusion remake was first launched during September of 2013 for the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, with an iOS release during November of 2013. After ample anticipation, the title launched on the Google Play Store on June 18th, 2014. Head over to the Play Store and download a copy now for the premium admission price of $10.
