[Updated] [E3 2014] Sega announces Sonic Jump Fever, Heading To Android This Summer

E3 2014 is officially underway and SEGA has announced a new Sonic title that will be heading our way later this Summer called Sonic Jump Fever. As you are probably guessing, this new Sonic game is based off of the original Sonic Jump that recently landed onto Android as well.

Update July 10th, 2014 10:04am PST: Sega has finally released Sonic Jump Fever onto Google Play. You can pick it up through the link below for free.

Unlike the original Sonic Jump game, this new game is all about trying to beat your friends’ high scores. The game’s mechanics don’t stray too far from the original’s, the big change is the ability to compete against your friends. Players will be able to choose what character they want to play as, whether that be Sonic, Knuckles or a slew of other available characters from the Sonic universe. Once you pick the character you want to play as, you are off to compete in fast vertical-jumping challenges.

Along the way in each round you’ll have boosters and other power-ups available for you to try and collect in order to try and give yourself an advantage. There also happens to be unique character abilities you can take advantage of in order to try and beat your friends. Since this game is all about competition, at the start of each round, scores are displayed on a leaderboard so friends can immediately see who is doing the best and climbing the ranks. Leaderboard are cleared every two weeks as well.

Sonic Jump Fever is slated for release later this Summer and when it does launch, you’ll be able to download it for free.
