Samsung Gear Live + Windows95 + DOOM + Minecraft = Win

Emulating another operating system on a platform not native to said operating system isn’t a new thing. There are plenty of emulators out there that can emulate just about anything you want, even on a platform like Samsung Gear Live. So while putting Window95 onto your Gear Live might seem a bit odd of an idea at first, until the cool factor sets in. Of course playing DOOM on it definitely adds to that.

Yes, you read that right, you can play the original DOOM on your Samsung Gear Live. There are some benefits to running Windows95 on your watch as well, but this isn’t a natively installed version of Windows95 obviously. Instead the OS is being emulated through the use of aDosBox emulator which is available on Google Play for free. However there are some pretty steep limitations as to what you can do once you have the OS running on your Gear Live watch. This is mainly due to that this has a RAM limitation that doesn’t allow programs to run without running out of RAM.

Still, it is always pretty near to see something like Windows95 running on an Android watch (even if it is basically useless) and yes, this is the same person who put DOOM on it as well. DOOM is played using touchscreen controls, although how well you do on this size of screen has yet to be seen. The same person who has pulled both of these off, a 16-year old by the name of Corbin Davenport, is also responsible for managing to get Minecraft: Pocket Edition (also playable with touchscreen controls) to work on his Samsung Gear Live as well.

Check out the videos to see all of this in action. Anyone want to take a guess at what the next game will be to show up on the Samsung Gear Live?
