EA’s soft launch of Sim City BuildIt is in full swing for Canadian residents

EA has brought a new Sim City to Android in a title called Sim City BuildIt, currently now in a soft location-specific release. While this isn’t a full Sim City title in that it has every option and feature of its PC and console bethren, it does have a lot of gameplay available still including the actually city building elements, which is good since this is Sim City after all.

What Sim City BuildIt actually happens to be is a re-imaging of the franchise for mobile devices with controls developed for mobile and a majority of the content you would find in a newer Sim City title for other platforms. You have to build your city from a small village up to a huge thriving city, solving the problems a city growing would face and trying to keep your residents happy.

Sim City BuildIt Features:

• SimCity, reimagined for a new generation of mobile players
• Solve real city problems like traffic, fires and pollution
• Add basic city services, including water and electricity to keep your citizens happy and your city growing
• Specialize your city with iconic landmarks, casinos, and more!
• Create and trade resources with friends and other cities
• Unleash natural (and not so natural) disasters
• Explore your 3D city from all angles with 360° controls
• Watch your city come to life – night and day!

One feature we are glad to see in this version of Sim City is the trading resources with friends, giving a multiplayer element to the game that would have been missed if it wasn’t included. You can view your city in 360 degrees, fully rendered in 3D as well which is also good that it was included. Any other type of visual graphics for this game would have not made this as good. However, EA hasn’t included a lot of the depth you would find in a Sim City game for PC or console. Hopefully this comes in future updates.

The bad news is that currently only Canadian residents can snag a copy of Sim City BuildIt, unless you’re rooted and using one of the many apps available to get location locked games, since this is a soft launch after all. No word just yet on when it will be released worldwide. It is free-to-play which means IAPs are involved as well. We will post an update when the game goes international.
