Nvidia Shield Portable gets a new update (#99) featuring battery improvements and more

Nvidia has pushed out a new update for the older brethren of the Shield Tablet today. The Shield Portable has had update 99 pushed to it and this particular update features battery improvement, bug fixes and some other issues being resolved as well.

While the changelog is a bit small, the size of the update is around 480MB, so it isn’t as small as you may think when you first see it.

Update 99 changelog:

– Improves battery drain when SHIELD portable lid is closed
– Updates the latest SHIELD hub app available on Google Play Store
– Fixes a bug that does not allow videos to be played from Facebook, using Browser or Chrome, or on the YouTube app
– Fixes a bug to enable support for 4K content in Console Mode

So small in changelog, big in what it does. The main benefits to this update are probably the improved battery life when the lid is closed and the video fix which, if you’re like me and watch a lot of video, was bloody annoying. The new Shield Hub is nice though.

This update should be available now to all Shield Portable owners right now.
