Noodlecake Studios Allows You to Pull Off Ridiculously Fluid Tricks in Pumped BMX 2!

Noodlecake Studios in collaboration with Adam Hunt of Yeah Us!, has just released the sequel to the extremely popular game Pumped BMX. Pumped BMX 2! is now available in the Google Play Store, and it is every bit as fun and challenging as its predecessor, with more than just a new coat of paint. Pumped BMX 2! has ridiculously smooth controls, that allow you to pull off amazing tricks, while you are grabbing air between platforms. In short, Pumped BMX 2! is well worth the price of admission.

Adam Hunt is a long time BMXer and it shows through the game play in Pumped BMX 2!. After watching the game play trailer, I thought it would be nice to be able to pull off some of those tricks in game, without constantly crashing. The excellent controls and the in-depth tutorials, make it pretty easy, to pull off super-chained combos, while soaring in the air. There are three buttons and a multi-directional joystick that you use for pulling off massive tricks. The setup though is quite easy. The spin button allows your rider to spin 360 degrees. The pump button is used to accelerate. There is a T1 or T2 button that you can switch between while playing. They determine the complexity of the trick that you can perform. T2 tricks are more complicated. The last control button is a multi-directional stick/pad, wherein you flick or hold in a certain direction, for the rider to pull off a particular trick. When you put it all together, the combos come quick and are strikingly fluid. I cannot say enough about how fluid the rider is and it is great to see in action.

Pumped BMX 2 Features:

  • 50 levels, 500 – challenges – from the simple to the fiendishly difficult.
  • Google Play Game Services leaderboards and achievements, featuring top BMX Pros
  • 16 legit tricks from kickouts to cliffhangers, from icepicks to nose manuals.
  • Super accurate physics – as close as you’ll get to real BMX without picking up a bike
  • Amazing controls allow full creativity, from floaty 360s to frontflip bikeflips.

There is quite a bit of game play to be experienced with Pumped BMX 2. There are five different circuits that have multiple challenges within each circuit. The circuits include: Local, Flow, AM, Pro and Legend. As an example, the Local circuit has seven different tracks. In each track there are easy, medium and hard goals to fulfill. For example, in the easy mode/level there are four goals to complete before you can go to medium. It is the same track with different goals. In each level, you will at least have to complete the level as one of the goals. The other three vary between getting a certain score for pulling off tricks, and requiring you to pull off a certain trick or two. Depending on how good you are, you can spend a considerable amount of time on just one level within the circuits. I appreciate how the game structure has been set up, and it lets me know, it will take practice to get better. For the other circuits to unlock, you have to complete a certain percentage of the previous circuit before you can move on to the next.

The next big upgrade in Pumped BMX 2! has to do with the graphics. The first game was in 2D. Pumped BMX 2! is now in a 3D environment and it looks good. In an over exaggerated style of art in some ways, the color palette is bright and crisp. When you go back and look at the first game, you can see the huge leap forward Yeah Us! has taken in the graphics department. What makes this even more amazing, is knowing that Adam Hunt taught himself programming, in his spare time, while developing the first game. You can definitely see the development progress that he and a few additional team members have made, to create what is an aesthetically pleasing game.

There is much to be appreciated in Pumped BMX 2! It is a game that is fun, has depth, excellent controls and good graphics. It is integrated with Google Game Play Services with leaderboards and twenty-two achievements to unlock. A lot of gamers bemoan the free-to-play model. Well, you don’t have to worry about that with this one. The game is selling for $2.99, and there are no IAP’s whatsoever to be found. So if you are expecting to spend some coins to help you get better playing this, it is not going to happen. You are going to have to get good the old-fashioned way. You are going to have to put the time in! However, Yeah Us! and Noodlecake Studios, has made it much easier for you by giving you the best touch-based controls, without having a physical controller… period. Download this one and enjoy it for the long haul.
