[Updated] New details found point to the Android tablet version of Hearthstone’s release could be near

We have been watching the development of Blizzard’s TCG title Hearthstone since it was originally announced. It has been teased since the game’s release on PC that it would be coming to mobile devices, with the iPad being the first to be confirmed (and actually get a release of the game), followed shortly by Blizzard coming clean and announcing a version for Android as well. As time drew closer to Blizzcon 2014, more details starting coming forth about the Android version and then during Blizzcon 2014 it was confirmed that the company was planned to release the Android tablet version this month.

Update: December 17th, 2014 6:43am PST: One final update about Hearthstone. It appears that the game is now available to pretty much everyone with a tablet in more countries it seems outside of Canada, New Zealand and Australia. We don’t have a full list yet though so if you are outside of those three countries, let us know in the comments below if you can download the game. US is confirmed though to have access to it. It does support cross-platform login so your battle.net account on PC will work for mobile as well. We’ve also added the link to Hearthstone on Amazon’s Appstore below. Let the games begin!

Update: December 16th, 2014 10:53am PST: If you reside in Canada, New Zealand or Australia, good news for you if you like Hearthstone. Blizzard has soft launched Hearthstone for Android tablets in these regions. Worldwide release will be arriving soon. We will post another update when it does arrive worldwide. During Blizzcon 2014 the newest content expansion for Hearthstone was also announced called Goblins vs Gnomes along with this confirmation of time frames for the Android releases. Now the time for the Goblins vs Gnomes expansion release is very close and new details have been mined out of the Hearthstone game that very well point to Blizzard being on time with the Android tablet release this month. In fact it could arrive as soon as December 8th, 2014 which is when the expansion launches for the PC and iPad version.

The folks over at Hearthpwn have done some data mining and found some pretty interesting details that point to all of this actually happening. Data Mining has been around for a long time and it is basically poking around in the game’s files and coding/data to find hidden details about whatever it is you’re looking for, whether it be hidden art assets for an upcoming expansion or to mod things. The folks at Hearthpwn found lots of goodies such as all the gold cards that will be coming with the expansion and details like events for the launch of the expansion and achievements. It is the achievements and events that were found that suggest strongly that the Android tablet version is coming and soon.

Two different events were discovered during the data mining. The first is a new arena event called “Goblins vs Gnomes Arena Mischief” where you have a chance to earn free cards, or something of that nature. While this is cool and all, this isn’t the important event. The second one is however the one we want to focus on.

The other event is just playing the expansion during the launch period. You will be rewarded with free packs of Goblins vs Gnome cards to open up. Buried within this event is an achievement which will reward you with a free booster pack of card for playing on your Android tablet. For this to actually be feasible, it would mean that the Android tablet version of Hearthstone would have to be released this month, possibly closer to the expansion’s release date of the 8th.

Of course this is all speculation based off of items found with data mining and as always things could change regarding the Android launch at any given time. However it is promising to see this in there. Blizzard has had the Android tablet version slated for release by the end of this year, with the Android phone version apparently arriving in the early part of 2015. We will be keeping a close eye on Google Play this month for when it does arrive and will update everyone as soon as possible.
