[CES2015] Razer Announces Forge TV their Android-Based Game Console

Razer announced the Forge TV today at CES 2015. The Forge TV is an Android-based gaming and entertainment console which is set to release soon, Q1 of 2015. On top of that, Razer announced a selection of peripherals to compliment their new set top box.

Forge TV works with Google Play for its’s game library. Beyond games it also officially supports many media apps including YouTube and Hulu. The system runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and Adreno 420 graphics processor with 2GB of RAM. 16GB of internal storage is provided, with expandable memory not possible.

PC Games are a part of the consoles game offering. Similar to NVIDIA GameStream, Razer is debuting a new program called Stream that aims to work with many devices beyond the Forge TV.

The console will cost $100 and will be available through the Razer online store. A new controller, called the Serval Controller comes in a bundle with the system for $150. The new controller can remember up to 4 paired devices and works with smartphones, tablets, and PCs along with the Forge TV. The company also released a new gaming keyboard and mouse set-up to support PC gameplay on the Forge TV. Our hands-on with everything from Razer will be arriving later tonight.
