[Update: Released] Square Enix will be bringing Bravely Archive: D’s Report to Android in Japan next month

Word on the street these days is that Square Enix will be bringing Bravely Archive: D’s Report to Android next month although so far Japan is the only location that the game has been announced for. This will be the first Bravely game for smartphones and tablets, with previous title having been made available for the Nintendo 3DS.

Update: January 3rd, 2015 7:10am PST: Square Enix has released Bravely Archive: D’s Report onto Google Play. It actually was released last week but since it is a Japan-only release right now, we didn’t quite see it the moment it landed on the Japanese Google Play store. We are still hoping to see a Western release of this game at some point but I wouldn’t bet the house on it happening. You can grab this game through the link at the bottom (it’s free) if you live in Japan or have access to this market and can read Japanese.

For those of you not familiar with this game or franchise, Bravely Archive: D’s Report takes place far into the future, several hundred years to be exact, after the previous Bravely games. Players will be taking on the role of the new librarian at the Anastasis Library which is located in the center of Luxendarc. Players will be traveling the world to collect memories that are stored in special crystals. Of course there will be characters that you meet along the way that are from other Bravely games.

This is a party-based game so players will be creating their own group of characters to take with you on your journey. There are different classes of characters available ranging from healers, offensive/defensive type classes, and support classes available to make your group up with. There are a lot of classes to choose from, over 30 of them actually, so there is plenty of combinations to try out. Like most Square Enix titles, this game has turn-based combat as well.

Right now Bravely Archive: D’s Report is slated for release in Japan next month. Unfortunately there is no word as to whether or not this game will hit Western shores at some point. In the meantime, you can check out the game’s teaser site if you speak Japanese.
