Steel Media regularly holds indie Pitch events throughout the year. These are events where developers can pitch a game they are currently developing, to a panel of judges. If you are in the top three then you win various prizes that are meant to help you out with your game’s launch. However, a few times a year there are also Big Indie Pitch events and these are much bigger versions of the regular indie pitches. This means the prizes are also bigger.
The first Big Indie Pitch for 2015 is being held at this year’s GDC 2015 show and we are going to be on the panel of judges as well. It won’t be just us though doing the judging, there will be other major websites being represented as well including Cult of Mac, 148Apps, GamesIndustry.biz, Steel Media (a.k.a PocketGamer), and more. In other words, since we are all going to be judging and reporting on this Big Indie Pitch, just being there to pitch your upcoming game is a lot of exposure for free.
However, there are prizes as well outside of a lot of media exposure and they are all geared towards making the launch of your upcoming game a success. Prizes include $5000, $2500, $1000 worth of advertising on Steel Media websites, TrailerFarm will make a custom trailer for your game when it launches, and more. Since most indie developers are on a super tight budget, these sort of prizes can go a long way to helping make your game release successful.
If you’re a developer, will be at GDC 2015, and want to be a part of the Big Indie Pitch, I suggest signing up as soon as possible as there are a limited amount of spaces available. Once those are filled up, which there is only a small amount left, there won’t be any more spots available.
