All of you Nvidia Shield Tablet and Shield Portable owners out there in Android land who have been waiting patiently for Android 5.1 to arrive, there is some good news today. Nvidia has confirmed that the Android 5.1 update for both Shield devices will be arriving soon. This announcement came by way of a post on the Nvidia community forums by an administrator.
According to the post, the Android 5.1 update will not only bring new features and improved security, but it will also enhance the performance of both devices, or as they stated, an “overall snappier end user experience”.
Sp when will the update actually arrive? Well the post states that everyone will find out more details in the coming weeks. With the Nvidia Shield console arriving in May 2015, it would make sense that this update would arrive between now and the console’s release, or at least shortly afterwards, in order to keep all the Shield devices in line with each other in terms of OS versions.
Of course we will post an update when the updates begin rolling out or when more details are release.
