PC classic Grim Fandango is now out on Android

Originally released for PC by Lucas Arts, Grim Fandango has been ported over to Android by Double Fine Productions (makers of The Cave, Broken Age, and several other well known titles).

The game is iconic for it’s crossing the apperance of Latin-American beliefs on the afterlife, with a film-noir style story. According to the page on Google Play, the game has been remastered for improved looks, sounds, and controls.

The remastered version includes:

  • Repainted, hi-res character textures
  • New, dynamic lighting
  • Classic score re-recorded with a full live orchestra
  • Over 2 hours of exclusive developer commentary
  • Concept art browser

As for the story, players assume the role of Manny Calavera, who’s a travel agent for the “departed”. In Grim Fandango, souls of the deceased go on a journey, en route to the Great Beyond, and Manny helps facilitate said journeys by selling deluxe travel packages to the souls of those that lived good lives. Those that lived bad lives, must go travel to their destination on foot. Within this setting Manny stumbles across a criminal racket, and must resolve it, without getting caught.

The game is already available from Google Play, for $9.99. Be advised that this a discounted price, in celebration of its release.
