About a week ago we reported on Blizzard’s Hearthstone and the fact that the company had begun teasing a rather big announcement that would be happening on July 22nd, 2015. The teasing of this announcement came in the form of a scroll that was sent to PCGamer which also played the Argent Tournament theme song when the box was initially opened.
The scroll contained a message that stated Blizzard has a big announcement to make on July 22nd. Guesses as to what this announcement will be range from a new expansion (which recently had rumors floating around regarding a Ninja vs Pirates expansion) to a new official Tournament mode, something which a lot of players have been requesting. It could be something completely different altogether, although we suspect it has something to do with the Argent Dawn considering the verbiage of the note and the song that was played.
The note read as follows:
Champions are gathering from around the world to witness the next exciting thing Hearthstone has in store. News travels far and wide in search of brave new faces ready to answer the call to arms — Are you one of them? Muster for battle and mark July 22 on your calendar. The next bit of news won’t come by carrier pigeon — thankfully, we have much better ways of communication now. Victory awaits!
The only images from the live event announcement… clues?
Well now Blizzard has formally announced that they will be holding a live event on July 22nd, 2015 in San Francisco. The event will feature Hearthstone matches as well as developer access. It will also have a “momentous announcement” that will happen, which is clearly the same announcement teased last week with the musical scroll. Both Frodan and Kripparrian will be there as well, both of which are big members of the Hearthstone community. Hearthstone game director Eric Dodds will also be in attendance.
This event if open to the public, with doors opening at 2:00pm PST and the official livestream beginning at 2:30pm PST. We will be syndicating the live stream here. Whatever this announcement is, it is certainly turning out to be something big. Even past content expansion for Hearthstone didn’t get a live event nor did the new Tavern Brawl mode. Any guesses?
