[UPDATE: Game Released] Help Little Red Riding Hood navigate the dangers of the forest in A Day in the Woods

Set to release on July 30th, A Day in the Woods is a puzzle game released by RetroEpic Software. A Day in the Woods is a puzzler based on the classic story of Little Red Riding Hood. The inspiration behind the gameplay is a take on the sliding puzzle, if you remember playing with those as a child.

[UPDATE: 07/29/2015 – 12:16 PM – PST]: The unique and gorgeous puzzle game by RetroEpic Software is now available to download in the Google Play Store. If you want to play this one, it will cost you $4.99 to download. Some may gawk at the price, but it includes 60 puzzles and absolutely no in-app purchases. The link to download the game is at the end of this article.

In this game, players are looking at a sort of hex based gameboard that is themed for the forest, with the goal of sliding various pieces around in order to navigate Red from one end to the other, while avoiding threats such as the Big Bad Wolf, bears, or spiders, while collecting berries and flowers along the way; players will also find that some of the creatures in the forest are helpful, such as rabbits and beehives.

A Day in the Woods Features:

– 60 updated and streamlined puzzle levels, each introducing new and increasingly complex problems to solve
– “Par” challenges on each level add an extra layer of difficulty for the puzzle masters to test their problem-solving skills
– Revitalised artwork adds extra charm to the wood-cut style and fairy-tale feel
– Updated UI elements are easy to use and understand
– Gameplay mechanics are ideal for the touch screen environment
– Even more unlockable elements allow players to personalise their sprite with different wings, flares and trails all in their favourite colours
– 4 unlockable seasons to play each level in, creating a different, and beautiful, atmosphere
– Suitable for all ages and enjoyed by children and adults alike

A Day in the Woods is slated to be sold for $4.99 with no additional IAPs either, or at least nothing was mentioned. In the meantime, you can check out the game in action via the trailer below as well as additional screenshots. We’ll post an update once the game it released.
