Touchjet Wave wants to give you the option to turn your TV into a giant touchscreen tablet

One of the great things about Android happens to be that there is no shortage of people and companies trying new things with our beloved OS. Touchjet Wave is a new product that is currently looking for funding on IndieGoGo which will let users turn their HDTV into a giant touchscreen Android tablet.

In short, this gadget will turn any normal HDTV into a touchscreen Android tablet. This is done by using infra-red to capture where you are touching your TV’s screen with your fingers. Since it uses this method as well, anyone with privacy concerns should be happy to hear that it also doesn’t catch any user data.

The Touchjet Wave does have a few requirements, but these should be no problem with anyone who owns an HDTV that was built in the last 3 years.

Hardware Requirements:

– HDMI Input
– A display of between 20-inches and 60-inches capable of 720p/1080p at 50/60Hz
– If you own a 4K TV, it will need to be able to run at 24, 25 or 30Hz.

As for the unit’s actual hardware, the Touchjet Wave will come with a 2.0GHz quad-core ARM 9 Cortext A9 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of storage, and multi-touch support so it can track up to four points simultaneously. While this will turn your TV into a ‘touchscreen’, people don’t actually have to touch the screen itself, you just need to be close to it. That way your TV won’t get instantly dirty with a billion fingerprints. There will also be an app so you can remotely control your TV with your Android device of choice.

In terms of funding, the IndieGoGo campaign is looking for $100,000 in funding to help get the units completed and shipped out. Early bird units will be available for anyone donating $99 to the project and will be shipped out sometime in March 2016. After that, the next tier of units is $119, or you can get a 2-pack for $189. There are other options available as well for bigger bundles, or you can just toss $5 at the campaign to help them reach their goal.
