Crimson Pine Games is an independent game developer located in Gliwice, Poland. They have developed a few games already available in the Google Play Store, such as Follow The Line 1 and 2, and a few Solitaire games. Their latest game, Geometry Race is an endless flight racing game worth checking out.
I have been yearning to play the popular PC game Race the Sun, and Kayos (iOS) on Android. To date, I have not heard if either of those great looking flight games will make their way to Android. However, Geometry Race, takes a nod from both of those titles. It is a visually impressive solo racing game with nearly flawless controls. You will need those excellent controls too, because the game punishes you with difficult, though currently limited, environments.

When I came across Geometry Race, I was immediately impressed with what I saw. Though the title of the game made me a little bit skeptical, I chose to download it anyway to try it out. I am glad I did. Not only does the game look great, the controls are great too. It has a difficulty level set at punishing in my opinion. The first few times I played I was pretty frustrated. I kept crashing the ship. I decided to keep at it and was pleasantly surprised after making several attempts. The game is about getting a high score, and flying as far as you can. Admittedly, when you first play it, you won’t be flying very far at all. You will find your ship exploding into a million pixels.
The controls on Geometry Race are pretty simple. You have two buttons. One for moving left and the other for moving right. As I mentioned previously, the controls are top-notch. There isn’t any hesitation once you choose to depress the on-screen buttons. You have to learn the distance your ship will sway, once you hit the buttons. In other words, you have to make your decision early and stick to it. Waffling on which way you are going to move will rapidly end your journey. The environments continue to change the farther you fly, similar to another one of my favorite games on Android called Voxel.
There are two worlds currently available to play in Geometry Race. They are Cubus and Desertum. The worlds are populated with colorful geometric shapes. You will encounter rotating squares, crumbling gargantuan rectangles and a myriad of other shapes. Diamonds are the in-game currency, which is used for buying other ships or unlocking the next world. Though you will be flying through the environments at a pretty fast clip, they are tasteful and intriguing in design.
Geometry Race is a free to play game. The great part about it is that currently, there are no-in app purchases, which require real money. The diamonds you acquire will allow you to buy more ships and unlock later levels. However, you may have to play a bit, because unlocking the second level requires 500 diamonds. Unless you play the game a lot, or are really good at the game, it may take a little while. The other option for unlocking the next world is to fly 3000 meters in the game. Again, this is doable, but will definitely take skill and practice.
Overall, Geometry Race is a great game to have on your device. The game doesn’t appear to be integrated with Google Game Play Services, but it would be a great candidate for achievements and leaderboards. The game is continuing to be developed by Crimson Pine Games. I have already noticed a few updates to the game that have helped. They have mentioned that they are listening to the comments of gamers, and are committed to improving the game. You can’t really ask for any more than that.
