Between today and tomorrow, there are a lot of great games coming out. Unexpectedly, one that I have been following the development of relatively closely, has silently sneaked into the Play Store. Bullet Boy is a cannon-blasting game starring an adorable character, set in stunning environments. The game is created by Pomelo Games. They are based in Montevideo, Uruguay. They have teamed up with Kongregate to publish this exciting and colorful game.
Bullet Boy stars a cute little boy with a red scarf, and bullet shaped helmet. He is blasted out of a cannon on an adventure to find relics that are loosely populated throughout the games 60 levels. It is a game about timing your blast from each cannon at just the right moment to land in the next cannon. Some of the cannons are stationary, while others are constantly rotating. This seems pretty simple, but you don’t have an endless amount of time to move from one cannon to another. There is a swirling tornado that will gobble you up, and other elements in the environment, from birds, and windmills that will destroy your opportunity for progress.

The game mechanic is very simple. Just tap your on-screen button to have Bullet Boy burst out of the cannon. There is definitely strategy involved to be successful in the games many varied levels. The game world is simply grand and gorgeously rendered. If you have time, you should check out Pomelo Games’ development blog. A lot of hard work went into creating the main character and the different levels. It is unique, appealing and refreshing, considering the number of games that are similar in the projectile based genre.
