Telltale Games will be very busy at PAX Prime this year, with their special ‘Crowd Play’ of the new episode for Tales from the Borderlands going on, and now news that the company will also have a playable copy of Minecraft: Story Mode on hand at PAX Prime. So if you are going to PAX Prime this year, and are a Minecraft fan, you will want to keep an eye out for this.
If you are not familiar with what Minecraft: Story Mode is, this is Telltale Games newest series that will be heading our way soon. Teaming up with Mojang, Minecraft: Story Mode will be an all-new narrative-driven series with a total of five episodes planned so far. It will be a completely original experience with all new characters introduced in this game, but all of it is inspired by Minecraft and its blocky world. Players will be taking control of Jesse, the story’s main Protagonist, who is out to find The Order and save the world.
Jesse and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone; four adventurers who slayed an Ender Dragon. The Order are the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion.
The cast doing the voice work for each character is also pretty impressive. Confirmed actors include Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens. More will be joining the ranks as well with each episode.
There is, unfortunately, no specific release date yet for Minecraft: Story Mode, but the fact it is playable at PAX Prime is a good sign that the first episode must be close to release. Telltale Games will also be giving away Minecraft: Story Mode t-shirts at their booth, along with having the game playable there as well. Each day of PAX Prime will have a different shirt available, so there will be four designs in total.
