Disney has retired a slew of mobile games including Monkey Island and more

Today Disney has confirmed a huge list of mobile games the company is retiring. Before everyone gets worried though, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they are going to be pulled for Google Play (or other markets for that matter) and won’t be downloadable. What this does mean is that development won’t be continuing for these particular titles. This means no future updates or support for the retired games.

Out of the list, there are games exclusive to Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, as well as games available on all platforms. So why the retiring of so many games?

Although the decision was difficult to make, this will allow us to focus on building new and more engaging games. – Disney

As for any type of refund, don’t expect any. Disney won’t be refunding money or credit for any in-game items, virtual currency, and anything else you may have spent money on in the listed retired games. Here’s the list of games being officially retired as of today (it’s long):

– Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon

– Lone Ranger
– Lost Light
– Marvel: Avengers Alliance

So there you have it. Disney is retiring the above list of games in order to concentrate on new upcoming titles. It’s a bit of a shame since some of those titles are beloved classics.
