Bomberman fans rejoice: Konami to release an Android version to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary

To be released by Konami, Taisen! Bomberman is an upcoming mobile game that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the classic franchise. For the uninitiated, the idea was for players to use their bomberman to place bombs in such a fashion as to eliminate all the enemies on the screen as quickly as possible, as well as create new pathways for Bomberman to take.

The game is set to include both a solo mode as well as a multiplayer mode. The solo mode is slated to include 100 levels for players to work through, including a pair of leaderboards for competing either on fastest level completion or highest score. The multiplayer mode includes a variety of features such as Multiplayer Contests which will include up to four different players in a given match, and it’s even slated to function cross-platform with iOS, increasing the size of the player pool that you’ll be pulling opponents from.

Taisen! Bomberman also will match players up by their skill level, in an effort to prevent lopsided matches. Private matches will also be available and will use a password-style entry that players can share among friends. There is so far no mention of a specific release date beyond this Winter. Same goes with pricing, or if this game will even be globally released. We will post an update once we learn more.
