[UPDATE: Game Released] Young Horses hint at a mobile release of their Octodad game for Android

Indie game development studio Young Horses are the folks behind the comical game franchise Octodad on PC. Now it looks like this game will be expanding its reach to other platforms as Young Horses has begun teasing a mobile version of the original Octodad game that is on its way to us soon.

[UPDATE: Thursday, November 5th – 8:26 AM, PST] Octodad: Dadliest Catch has finally been released for Android devices. If you are looking for a unique game with a huge sense of character and humor, look no further. The game is $4.99 to download, and does not include any in-app purchases. The link to download the game can be found at the end of this article.

The Octodad Twitter account posted a new picture today with an Apple and Android logo in it, along with both logos having disturbingly long wavy arms. So what is Octodad about? For those of you not familiar with this game, Octodad is about a father who is also an Octopus. It takes place in a third-person perspective with players controlling Octodad who happens to be a dapper octopus masquerading as a human.

You will be taking Octodad through his daily life and the activities that take place during those days. As the developers describe it, he must “master mundane tasks with his unwieldy boneless tentacles while simultaneously keeping his cephalopodan nature a secret from his human family”. He has to accomplish this while keeping the fact he’s an Octopus a secret. You will be controlling Octodad like a marionette, dragging his arms and legs around while his body flops along. Needless to say there is plenty of chuckles to be had.

You can’t let anyone find out you’re an octopus though, otherwise it will be game over for Octodad. Right now this game has been available for PC, Mac, and PS Vita users, but now it is coming to Android and iOS soon as well. While we don’t have a specific release date or pricing information just yet, we do know it will be arriving this October onto mobile devices. We will post an update once we learn of an exact date and price for Octodad.

Thanks to Michel M. for the tip! Screenshots and trailer from the PC version.
