Square Enix has been talking about release a remake for the original Mana game throughout the later part of last year on and off. Depending on where you live, you’ll know this game under a different name, such as with North America it is known as Final Fantasy Adventure. Well Square Enix released a new teaser trailer for this game the other day along with the news that it will be launching worldwide this Thursday.
UPDATE: Wednesday, February 3rd – 7:45 PM, PST: Square Enix fans will be glad to know that Adventures of Mana has made its way to the Play Store. The game is a premium-priced title and it will cost you $13.99 to download. The price is a couple of dollars more than we expected, but at least there are no in-app purchases in the game. When we last talked about this game, we didn’t even know if it would be arriving anywhere outside of Japan when it launched. This isn’t going to be the original version of the game getting re-released as a straight port, but instead it will be a remake of the original game with a new name, Adventures of Mana.

The storyline in this game, for those of you not familiar with it, follows the journey of a warrior, held by force as a gladiator and forced to fight monsters day in and day out for the amusement of others of the Dark Lord. Losing a fight would have meant he would die, but thankfully our hero hasn’t yet lost. However the Dark Lord has his sights set on the Tree of Mana which sits atop of Mt. Illusia, where legend has it the person who touches the trunk of the Tree of Mana will get eternal power. Obviously your goal is to not let that happen.
If you’re a fan of the Mana series, this is probably one of those must-buy titles when it arrives. There’s no price for the Western release announced right now, but the Japanese version is tagged at 1,400 Yen. If you covert that directly and the current exchange rate, that’s around $11.65 USD. So that should give you an idea of where the pricing will more than likely be at. We will post an update on Thursday when Adventure of Mana arrives on Google Play.
